Tiger Chokes Yet Again

By: Jeff Lesson

It is getting to be quite the familiar story. Tiger Woods plays well enough a few tournaments during the year against subpar fields, then folds up like a tent in the Majors.

This is exactly what happened yet again at The Open Championship. He was right there heading into the weekend, and only five back starting the final round.

What he proved once again is that he no longer can hold up to the pressure of a major championship.

Putts he used to make in his sleep, he now can only dream of making. His wedges are equally abysmal when the heat is on. And he has lost total confidence in his driver.

He still has yet to win a major since 2008. He has won 14, and will forever stay at that number.

BIGGEST CHOKE OF ALL TIME?

Hard to argue any choke was bigger than the Jean van de Velde blow up at The Open Championship back in 1999, where he blew a three shot lead on the final hole-then lost in the playoff. However, Adam Scott at this year's Open Championship is close.

Scott, while looking for his fist Major, blew a four shot lead with four holes to go and lost in regulation to Ernie Els. At least Van de Velde got into a playoff!
