Three Winning Mega Millions Tickets Sold

SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - Beating outrageous odds, three ridiculously lucky people around the country woke up with a few extra hundred million dollars Saturday morning.

Winning Mega Millions lottery tickets were sold near Baltimore, Maryland and also in Illinois and Kansas, for what Michigan Lottery officials said was the biggest jackpot in world history at $640 million.

But don't toss those tickets just yet, because Michiganders haven't been completely left out.

Lotto officials said six tickets sold in Michigan matched five of the winning numbers, but not the mega ball. Those are worth $250,000.

Those winning tickets were sold at:

  • WOODLAND PARTY STORE TOO, 8064 GRAND RIVER RD, BRIGHTON
  • SUNNY OIL INC, 3031 WASHTENAW AVE, ANN ARBOR
  • SPEEDWAY #8708, 2799 PLYMOUTH RD, ANN ARBOR
  • 7-ELEVEN #34540, 27015 LAHSER RD, SOUTHFIELD
  • 7-ELEVEN 19166, 1365 DIX HWY, LINCOLN PARK
  • 75 BP INC, 2419 E 11 MI RD, ROYAL OAK

At that BP, WWJ's Kathryn Larson ran into Royal Oak resident Susan Beber, who was cashing in her $2 winner.

She said she matched only three number, but had had high hopes for a jackpot win. "I thought maybe it was gonna be me, but congratulations!" Beber said, addressing shopkeeper Sadek Elhammi.

The will take home 1% of the $250,000 jackpot, which will likely be divided among the clerks.

Although he didn't hit the jackpot, Elhammi said he feels like a winner.

The winning numbers were 2-4-23-38-46 with the Mega Ball number 23.
