Three Reasons Sports Illustrated Didn't Overrate Michigan State By Ranking The Spartans 8th Nationally
By: Pat Caputo
1. The Spartans front seven defensively, led by end William Gholston and linebacker Max Bullough, might be the best in the country. Also, the secondary, led by potential All-American conrerback Johnny Adams, is solid.
2. Michigan State returns four of its five starters on its offensive line - and several of the Spartans' backup o-linemen have considerable game experience.
3. Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio has led the Spartans to two straight 11-win seasons and has most of his key players returning. Logic dictates the Spartans have a better chance of taking a step forward rather than backward.
