Three Greatest Division I College Coaches In This State The Last 50 Years
1. Tom Izzo, Michigan State basketball - Six Final Four appearances is an incredible accomplishment. Izzo also got a national title, the only Big Ten basketball coach able to make that claim in more than two decades.
2. Bo Schembechler, Miichigan football - A truly great coach, who set the standard for college football coaches in this state. Splitting hairs in comparison to Izzo. The difference is Izzo has a national title. Bo never got one.
3. Red Berenson, Michigan hockey - Close with Ron Mason, the former Michigan State hockey great. But both built their programs to tremendous heights from low levels. The difference is Berenson delivered more national titles.
