Three Degrees of Pat Caputo: Johnny Damon Should Have Stayed With The Tigers

Three reasons Johnny Damon is staying with the Tigers - and none them have anything to do with his "love" of Detroit:

1. They hate him in Boston. And "hate" is not too strong a term. He left the Red Sox for the Yankees. That is the definition of hate in Boston.

2. Sucking up to Tigers owner Mike Ilitch, with all these glowing comments about Detroit, worked before. There is no reason to believe it won't work again.

3. There was virtually no interest in Damon on the free agent market last winter. He is having a lesser season in 2010 than he did in 2009, and is a year older. The Tigers are clearly his best chance to get another big pay day.
