Three reasons (beyond Justin Verlander) the Tigers have become a much more serious threat to reach the World Series:
1. The additions of Delmon Young and Doug Fister has solidified their batting order and given the Tigers a legitimate No. 2 starting pitcher.
2. Phil Coke and Joaquin Benoit have gotten their act together and provide the Tigers with solid setup men for closer Jose Valverde.
3. The Tigers can rake. Their lineup is threatening from top-to-bottom.
