Three Biggest Things That Have Keyed The Tigers' Solid 6-3 Start This Season

By: Pat Caputo

1. Miguel Cabrera has been OK at third base. As anticipated, his range isn't the best, but he has made just one error. Cabrera has not been the disaster many - myself included - predicted as a third baseman. We'll see if he is able to sustain it, but so far, so good. And keeping Cabrera at third allows much more flexibility for manager Jim Leyland when it comes to filling out his lineup card.

2. Rick Porcello. He is at the stage in his career when he should be coming into his own. In his first two starts, Porcello's been very good. His command of the baseball has been extraordinary. Porcello has just one walk in 14 2-3 innings.

3. Austin Jackson's development as a leadoff hitter. He is still striking out more than is ideal, but his walks are up and Jackson is stinging the ball with more much authority than he has in the past.
