Threat Reported, Lockdown Lifted At Center Line Schools
CENTER LINE (WWJ) - A reported threat caused a scare Monday at Center Line Schools.
All five schools in the district were on lockdown. That includes Center Line High School, Wolfe Middle School, Roose, Crothers and Peck elementary schools.
No injuries were reported. The lockdown was lifted at about 3 p.m. and students were released from the schools.
Center Link Police won't say what happened, but officials at a neighboring police agency told WWJ Newsradio 950 that Center Line Schools had received a phone threat.
Students talking to WWJ's Mike Campbell had their own version of what happened. "There was a gunman and he was loose, so they locked down the schools for about three hours," said one girl. "And the middle schoolers are still in school until a parent signs them out."
"We were in there since lunch, so like four hours," said another student.
Campbell reported that the busses for the middle school near the administration bulding had to wait on a neighboring street until school officials could clear all of the concerned parents' vehicles from the parking lot.
School officials were no commenting, but the superintendent was expected to make a statement at some point.
