Thousands Without Power After Windy Morning
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - High winds have knocked out power for roughly 22,000 homes and businesses in metro Detroit.
DTE Energy officials say they expect the number of outages to grow because the windy weather is hanging around into the afternoon Friday.
Larger outage areas include 2,600 customers near 13 Mile and Meadowbrook in Novi, 2,500 customers near Clarkston in northern Oakland County, 1,600 customers near Livernois and Maple Roads in Troy, and about 700 customers near Livernois and 7 Mile in Detroit. Other outages are scattered throughout the metro region.
DTE is constantly updating a power outage map to show residents where to expect the worst. Click here to check the map.
Crews are working on repairs, but it's unclear when everyone will have power restored. DTE said in some areas, workers are also dealing with downed power lines and trees that have been knocked over.
