Thought Of Trump As President Has Some Americans Thinking Canada May Be New Home
DETROIT (WWJ) - Windsor immigration lawyers say they've been getting phone calls from curious and nervous Americans on this side of the border. They say American citizens are calling them, asking about the possibility of moving to Canada.
Attorney James Scarfone tells the Windsor Star says not everyone mentions a specific reason, but those who do say they're concerned about what a 'President Trump' might do if elected.
"So they are exploring the idea of 'what if this happens,' what can we do? Can we move to Canada? We know Canada, we like Canada and maybe that's an opportunity - I get calls for that. We explore whether that particular person or couple or family would be able to immigrate to Canada, should the time come that they want to go because of the results of an election," says Scarfone.
Other immigration lawyers in Ontario say some Americans are already scouting out property in Canada as a precaution.
