This Week: Zoolander Returns & 'Blurred Lines' Loses

This week, Derek Zoolander broke some great news and Robin Thicke's troubles just keep getting worse.

1. Zoolander Returns!

The moment we've all waited for has finally happened: The return of Zoolander! Over a decade after the original, the comedy masterpiece that is Zoolander is getting a sequel, and leading stars Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson made the announcement in true fashion-loving fashion.

This week, characters from the original film Derek Zoolander (played by Stiller) and Hansel (played by Wilson) surprised audience members at the Valentino Women's Collection Fall/Winter 2015-2016 during Paris Fashion Week when they took a turn walking down the runway, giving their fiercest looks.

By the sound of the applause and cheers the pair got, it's safe to say everyone's pretty excited about the sequel, which is due in theaters February 12, 2016.

2. A 'Blurred Lines' Lose

The family of Marvin Gaye has won its lawsuit brought against Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams for the song "Blurred Lines," garnering the family $7.3 million in a game-changing verdict. Apparently, the family isn't just stopping there as they also are seeking to block sales and further distribution of the Thicke song.

The lawsuit stemmed from allegations that the song closely resembled a Gaye song "Got to Give It Up," something both Thicke and Williams denied. For their part, Thicke and Williams have every intention of appealing verdict, their attorney says.

Based on this lawsuit, there's a few artists who may want to double check their source material.

3. Three Losses

Hollywood lost three greats this week with the passing of legendary radio personality Terry Dosey, "Still Alice" director Richard Glatzer and "The Simpsons" co-creator Sam Simon.

All three were respected in their fields and their lives did not go uncelebrated.

Terry Dorsey, an iconic country music personality, passed away in Illinois at age 66 following a retirement from radio; a career that spanned 46 years.

Richard Glatzer, director of the drama "Still Alice" which won Julianne Moore her first Academy Award, passed away at age 63 after battling ALS since his diagnosis in 2011.

Finally, "The Simpsons" co-creator Sam Simon passed away at age 59, leaving behind a legacy of both humor and giving back.

4. Angie Stone Arrested

Dang Angie! This week it was reported that GRAMMY-nominated R&B singer Angie Stone,53, was arrested after physically assaulting her daughter with a metal stand, resulting in her daughter, Diamond Stone, losing some of her front teeth.

Police reports show that a confrontation escalated when Stone demanded that her daughter, 30, control her children who were allegedly running around the singer's home.

At the moment it seems like she-said, she-said with Angie Stone claiming her daughter threw the first punch and Diamond Stone saying her mother initiated the confrontation. For now, it seems like Angie is the only one in the hot seat and facing a domestic aggravated assault charge.  Good luck Angie!

5. Deep Injured

Celebrity injuries continued this week after Johnny Depp was reportedly hurt while filming the "Pirates of the Caribbean" sequel in Australia. However, Depp did not sustain the injury while working.

Variety.com reported that Depp is expected to have surgery on the injury .

Maybe this is a sign to stop making "Pirates of the Caribbean" sequels.

Bonus: Star Wars Date!

After the Force awakens, it may be taking another nap with news that "Star Wars: Episode VIII" has a May 26, 2017 release date. Rian Johnson, best known for his sci-fi hit "Looper," will write and direct the next installment after "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" hits theaters Dec. 18, 2015.
