Third Michigan Cabela's Store Planned
SAGINAW (WWJ) - Wildly popular outdoor gear retailer Cabela's is expanding its Michigan footprint. The chain, known for its hunting, fishing and camping supplies, plans to open a store in Saginaw next year.
Cabela's already has stores in Dundee and another one already slated to open in Grandville in 2013.
The Saginaw store will be located in a building previously occupied by Circuit City on Tittabawassee Road in the Saginaw Shopping Center, which also includes Target, Staples, McDonald's and Toys R Us.
The store is expected to hire about 75 people.
"Opening a Cabela's Outpost in Saginaw will allow us to more efficiently serve our passionate customers across Michigan and the Great Lakes region," Cabela's Chief Executive Officer Tommy Millner said, in a release. "In many ways this is an exciting new concept, but Cabela's Outposts also will be true Cabela's stores offering a premier retail experience. We are confident it will be a perfect fit for Saginaw."
Cabela's plans to open over a half-dozen new stores across the U.S. in the next 18 months -- including one in Anchorage, Alaska.
Cabela's is headquartered in Sidney, Nebraska.
