The Reunion Project - The Final Countdown (6/7)
By Scott Ryan
The countdown is on! We're three weeks away and over 100 tickets have been sold. That seems like a lot of people, but we're hoping for 150. We have an unusually high number of people who say they're just going to pay at the door. There are still some loose ends to tie up, supplies and decoration to buy, and maybe an extra fundraiser, but most of the heavy lifting is done. We're even getting some extra volunteers to help set up before Saturday's big event.
After this weekend, we might just close the e-ticket window so we can crunch some numbers and see where we are. Friday night's gathering is being used as a fundraiser, as we are taking donations primarily from people who won't be there Saturday. I am hoping that all of our efforts will pay off with a big crowd and an appreciation for what we've accomplished.
It's also good to see our sponsor page fill up with about a dozen businesses, many of them locally-owned ones. I always try to find some kind, clever words to say about them. And speaking of that, a special thanks to Reunions Magazine, which is planning to feature our class on the front of an upcoming issue! A great incentive to show up for the party.
This project has consumed a lot of my spare time in the past 18 months. When reunion weekend finally gets here, it'll be a mix of emotions. Part of me will be glad when the constant grind is over, but another part of me will be lost, at least until I stumble across my next project.
