The Lost Art Of Shining Shoes: "It's Important" Says Lucky
DETROIT (WWJ) - There is always a lot of talk about "art" at the auto show -- the styling of the cars, the exhibit spaces, and, of course, the people, especially those 'dressed to impress.'
WWJ's Mike Campbell also found a bit of 'a dying art' at the show at Cobo Center in Detroit.
Lucky has been shining shoes at Cobo for long time. He knows his trade. He calls it a lost art.
The art is: Clean. Polish. Brush.
"The brush is the key; you can do what you want with the rag."
Lucky's not famous -- at least not yet that we know of -- like fellow rag snappers the Godfather of Soul James Brown, Malcolm X, and former baseball player Sammy Sosa. Lucky pays no mind to them.
He just wonders, given the snowy weather and wet roads, why more of us don't stop and get our shoes shined. "It's important," the shoe shiner says.
