'The Green Hornet' Captures Weekend Box Office
Action packed. Those two words describe Seth Rogen's latest adventure: "The Green Hornet."
Rogen stars as the title character in The Green Hornet, which debuted in theaters Friday and captured the weekend box office, bringing in $34 million. That was nearly twice as much as its nearest competitor, "The Dilemma," which earned $17.4 million in its first weekend.
In The Green Hornet, Rogen stars as Britt Reid, the son of LA's most prominent and respected media magnate. He's perfectly happy to live a directionless existence on the party scene until his father (Tom Wilkinson) mysteriously dies, leaving Britt his entire media empire.
Britt strikes up an unlikely friendship with one of his father's more industrious employees, Kato (Jay Chou), and he convinces Kato that the two of them can find more meaning in their lives by becoming crime fighters. They start protecting the law by breaking it and Britt becomes The Green Hornet, with Kato at his side. The two start patrolling the streets of LA in a mobile fortress on wheels, known as Black Beauty.
If you want to get an up-close look at Black Beauty, it'll remain on display at Cobo - site of the North American International Auto Show - through Sunday, January 23rd.
As for The Green Hornet, it was a wild ride from start to finish. Plenty of fun, with lots of twists and turns along the way.
The Green Hornet is rated PG-13. Visit the film's official web site, by clicking here.
See you at the movies!
