The Dead Come Alive During Halloween Tour Of Pontiac Cemetery
PONTIAC (WWJ) - A Pontiac cemetery is coming to life just in time for Halloween.
Those brave enough are invited to take a historical tour of the Mt. Hope Catholic Cemetery in preparation of honoring the dead on All Hallows Eve.
Rick David and his wife will lead the tour on October 26th, when certain people buried in the cemetery will be brought back to life -- through storytelling.
"We're going to have a Civil War veteran presenter and they'll be dressed of that period," David told WWJ's Laura Bonnell. "We'll also have early settlers from Ireland, physicians and a hockey great, Terry Sawchuk, who is buried there."
The hour-long tour begins with cider and donuts at Gallery on the Boulevard, with a shuttle transporting guests to the cemetery. After the tour, guests will be shuttled back to the gallery.
The tours are selling out fast and reservations ($15 per person) are necessary. All proceeds will be donated to Mt. Hope Catholic Cemetery to support ongoing preservation and upkeep.
