The CW50 Street Team Visits American Red Cross Blood Drive
Vampires aren't the only ones that crave the red stuff! Every day patients in the United States are in need of blood, and taking the time to participate in a blood drive and donate could help save multiple lives. The CW teamed up with the American Red Cross for a blood drive to promote the network's new series "The Originals". As a spinoff of "The Vampire Diaries", the show centers around the world's original vampires. The CW50 Street Team visited the American Red Cross Blood Drive at the Rochester Hills Public Library, and talked to people about the new show and the importance of blood drives.
Allan Cotter, a big fan of both "The Vampire Diaries" and "The Originals", told the Street Team that he has been participating in blood drives for years. When discussing reasons for donating blood, Alan simply said "It makes me feel good to help other people". Michelle Stanley is also supporter of blood donation and a fan of vampire shows. When asked if she would donate blood to a vampire, Michelle replied "Sure, if he was hungry"!
The Street Team's Krystle Anderson talked with Nurse Caroline Rivard-Babish about ways to prepare for blood donation. Caroline said, "Anybody who wants to donate needs to be well-hydrated and drink extra fluids for a few days prior to the donation date, over four to five glasses above what you normally drink".
CW50 intern Wisam Daifi even joined in on the action, proudly donating her own blood to the drive!
