DETROIT (WWJ) - Happy Thanksgiving! Holiday shopping season officially kicks off Thursday in Metro Detroit — and, like it or not, stores are opening earlier and earlier.
Here's the rundown:
Stores Open Thursday

6 a.m.: Kmart opens for 41 straight hours.
5 p.m.: Toys'R'Us
6 p.m.: Walmart, Best Buy
8 p.m.: Target, Family Dollar
7 p.m.: Old Navy
8 p.m.: Kohl's, Macy's, JCPenny, Sears, OfficeMax, Staples, Dicks
Stores Opening Early Friday

Officials at Bloomfield Hills-based Taubman Centers — which owns Great Lakes Crossing — say they're opening earlier this year at the request of customers — but also retailers, who are dealing with a shorter holiday shopping season.
Taubman's Director of Communications Karen MacDonald said opening on the holiday was not an easy decision to make.
"We give our holiday hours a lot of thought and discussion, and we are reflective of the requests from our retailers and our customers," MacDonald told WWJ Newsradio 950. "Some like it; (for) some it's a tradition to get out there and shop early."
"Some would prefer to stay home and digest their meal, which is fine as well," she added.
