Texas Governor Escapes The Heat Appearing On Mackinac Island
MACKINAC ISLAND (WWJ) - A reprieve from the heat of the recent Republican debates may have just been the ticket for the Texas governor.
The Republican candidate for president and Texas Governor Rick Perry was on Mackinac Island Saturday for the Michigan Republican Leadership Conference.
"There may be slicker candidates and there may be smoother debaters, but I know what I believe in, and I'm going to stand on that belief everyday. I will guide this country with a deep, deep rudder," said Perry.
"We put regulation on notice, or government on notice that regulations were not going to strangle our small businesses, we understood that to have a prosperous environment required government to know its place," said Perry.
Perry was introduced by Congresswoman Candice Miller, who is backing the Texas governor.
