Terry Foster: The Oakland Athletics Are Overrated
Back at the end of August, the Oakland Athletics came to Detroit and took three out of four games in dominating fashion over the Tigers. The A's outscored the Tigers 34-19 and it took a walk-off three-run home run from Torii Hunter to salvage the last game of the series.
That series, which saw an unlikely power display in the form of four home runs from the A's Brandon Moss, seemingly left Tigers' fans worried about an impending matchup with Oakland in the postseason. 97.1 The Ticket's Terry Foster believes that Tigers' fans should not put too much stock into the Athletics.
"What the A's did is that they pissed the Tigers off," Foster said Friday on his radio show. "Back when the A's clowned the Tigers at home, people thought that they got in the Tiger's heads and they would kill them in the playoffs, but good teams that lose like that have a better chance to bounce back and take care of business.
"The Tigers will win in four games."
97.1 The Ticket's Mike Valenti thinks the A's may just be as good as advertised.
"I'm scared," Valenti said. "I think the A's are a very concerning matchup for the Tigers. The Athletics will win in five."
With a hobbled Miguel Cabrera and an under-performing Justin Verlander, many Detroiters have written off the Tigers in the series before it begins. Do the Athletics worry you in this series? Which team will take the series and in how many games?
