Terry Foster: "Photo Finish" For Big Ten Match-Up In Ann Arbor

ANN ARBOR (WWJ) - Maize and Blue, or Green and White ... there's no in-between on the floor of Crisler Center  Tuesday night in Ann Arbor ... as Michigan plays host to Michigan State in a basketball game that truly means something once again in the Big Ten standings.

"The way I look at it is it's a horse race and it's going to be a photo finish," said Terry Foster of The Detroit News and our sister-station, 97-1 "The Ticket", saying this is what Spartan head coach Tom Izzo has been waiting for over a decade.

"It's not just for bragging rights now, now you are playing to win the Big Ten, and that's way more important than popping the champagne  and saying, 'we're better than you', this is a statement game where the winner can position themselves to be better than everybody," Foster said.

"He wanted Michigan to be a better basketball team and he talked about this being 'tobbaco road north', where Michigan and Michigan State play for something," said Foster. "This is exactly what is happening this year, Michigan State is tied for first - Michigan is a game back and I think Tom Izzo likes it this way."

For the record, Terry says he thinks the Wolverines will win a close one tonight.

Pregame here on WWJ starts at 6:30pm, tip-off from Crisler set for 7 o'clock... Michigan-Michigan State get it on again.
