Terry Foster: Lions Now Have The Advantage In The NFC North

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler watched the Monday Night football game from the sidelines. That was expected.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers watched from the sidelines also. That was not expected.

Advantage Lions.

So who won the Monday Night Football game between the Bears and Packers? It looks like the Lions did. Magical things keep happening for the Lions. Some of it is by their own doing on the football field. Some of it is the destruction that is happening around them. My broadcast partner Mike Valenti keeps screaming that the Lions are going to make the playoffs and go 11-5. I am not convinced about the 11-5 part but the playoffs look more promising as the Lions roar and others falter.

That would mean two playoff appearances in three years and even the biggest Matthew Stafford and Jim Schwartz critics would have to hush for a bit.

The Bears beat the Packers, which is good news for the Lions because Green Bay is no longer ahead of them. That means there is a chance the Packers and Lions could meet in the playoffs at Ford Field instead of dreaded Lambeau. The Lions, Green Bay and Chicago (all 5-3) are in a dead heat at the half way poll.

Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks in the league and this team is not the same without him. But he suffered a shoulder injury and missed much of Monday's game. Would you rather play the Packers on Thanksgiving with or without Rodgers? Or with Rodgers just coming back from injury?

Cutler has missed the past few games and even if he returns Sunday will he be the Cutler of old? Who knows? The Bears remain a tough team but would you rather face them with Cutler with games under his belt or Cutler trying to get his game together?
The Lions are healthy and coming off a bye week. Yes, anything can happen in the NFL. But the Lions are sitting pretty now.

One more time. Who won the Monday Night Football Game?

Advantage Lions.
