Teen's Death Might Be Related To Detroit Strip Club Shooting

DETROIT (WWJ) - Police in Detroit are on the hunt for a killer who gunned down a teenager on the city's southwest side.

Sources tell WWJ the shooting happened early Thursday morning outside of The Sting, a strip club at Michigan Avenue and Burton, where someone was apparently breaking into vehicles in the parking lot. More than a dozen shell casings were left behind.

A 17-year-old boy received at least one gunshot wound in the shooting. He called his brother for help and the siblings were apparently on their way to a local hospital when Dearborn police stopped their SUV for speeding near Wyoming and Tireman. The teenager died in the backseat, according to police.

Other circumstances surrounding the incident weren't immediately clear.

No arrests have been made. Police are searching for four suspects in a black Chevy Tahoe and a red Chevy Trailblazer.

Tiffany Raines identified the victim as her 17-year-old brother, Antonio.

"All I know is he was shot. My other brother got a phone call to come get him and when he came and got him, he was already shot," Raines told WWJ's Mike Campbell. "He was trying to get him to the hospital and the police pulled him over for speeding, and they seen him bleeding out in the back."

Raines said her brother was going to school and trying to provide for his 1-year-old child.

"He got a baby at home. He's a good guy, a standup man. Loved his kids. He got a lot of stuff to look forward to, and he was shot," she said, getting visibly emotional. "Evidently we're losing our kids to these streets out here in Detroit, for what reason? For what reason? Why nobody can tell me why is my brother dead right now? Why did I lose my brother? Over what? He don't got money because he young. Because you may see some rocks here and there, and because you may see some J's here and there? He ain't have no money."

An investigation is ongoing.
