Teens Arrested After Firing Shot At Police Station
PONTIAC (WWJ) - Two teenagers are facing weapons charges after firing a gun at an Oakland County Sheriff's Office substation.
The shooting happened just after 2 a.m. Sunday at the substation along Woodward Avenue near Pike Street in Pontiac.
According to police, a deputy was in the parking lot when he heard a gunshot come from a vehicle on northbound Woodward Ave. in front of the station. The deputy then heard someone inside the same vehicle yelling about the shooting, saying: "Man, you just shot at the f****** police station!"
The deputy hopped in a cruiser and initiated a traffic stop with the suspect vehicle near Huron and Union streets. Police said five people were detained and two loaded .38 caliber revolvers were recovered, along with a large sum of cash and a small amount of marijuana.
Police said one of the guns had an empty shell, indicating it had been fired. Additionally, the gun used in the shooting was reported stolen from Mercer Island in Washington, police said.
Three of the suspects were questioned and released. One suspect, an 18-year-old, was lodged in the Oakland County Jail on charges of carrying a concealed weapon, possession of a stolen handgun and unlawful discharge of firearm. Another suspect, a 19-year-old, was lodged at the Oakland County Jail on charges of carrying a concealed weapon. Arraignments are pending.
Police said no one was injured in the shooting, which also did not cause any damage to the substation.
