Teen Victim Of Kalamazoo Shooter Has Goal Of Doing Cartwheels Again

DETROIT (WWJ/AP) - Abigail Kopf says one of her goals is to eventually do cartwheels again, after she re-masters walking.

The 14-year old continues her recovery after she was shot in the head during a deadly rampage in Kalamazoo.

Vicki Kopf tells ABC's "Good Morning America" that her daughter can negotiate stairs and move well on her own.

"I want to show everyone that I can walk," said Kopf in a delicate voice.

Uber driver Jason Dalton is charged in the February attacks that killed six people and injured two others.

Police said he shot people outside an apartment building, a restaurant and a car dealership in between driving for Uber. Two victims, including a Kopf, survived.

He faces a May 20 hearing on whether the case goes to trial.

Kalamazoo, with a population of about 75,000, is about 160 miles west of Detroit. It is home to Western Michigan University and the headquarters of popular craft beer maker Bell's Brewery. The city also is known for the anonymously funded Kalamazoo Promise program, which has paid college tuition of students who graduate from Kalamazoo Public Schools for more than a decade.
