Teen Sexually Assaulted Near Romulus School

ROMULUS (WWJ) - Police in Romulus are looking for a suspect in the rape of a 14-year-old girl near a school playground.

Officers say the teen was waiting for a friend at Halecreek Elementary school at around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when she was approached by an unknown man with a knife.

The girl told police the man forced her out of view where he cut off her bra. He then sexually assaulted her with the knife at her throat before fleeing on foot.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 170 lbs.  He was wearing a dark blue or black hoodie, dark shorts that went below his knees and blue tennis shoes — possibly size eleven.

He had a dark colored mask covering his face.

Detectives are looking for the public's help to identify the person of interest seen in these security camera images.

Anyone who recognizes him or who has information about this crime is asked to contact the Romulus Police Department at 734-941-8400.
