Teen Motorcyclist In Critical Condition After Crash

STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) - A 19-year old motorcyclist is in critical condition after he crashed into another vehicle at 19 Mile and Ryan Roads in Sterling Heights.

Police say witness accounts of the accident, which happened around 6:45 a.m. Thursday, indicate that the motorcycle driver was driving southbound on Ryan at a high-rate of speed, weaving in and out of traffic. As the motorcycle approached the green light at 19 Mile Road, a northbound vehicle making a left turn was struck by the motorcyclist in the passenger side door.

The driver of the motorcycle was transported to Mount Clemens General Hospital in critical condition. The 71-year-old driver and his wife, also Sterling Heights residents, were not injured.

Sterling Heights Police blocked the intersection at 19 Mile and Ryan for about three hours while they completed an investigation.
