Teen Hit By Semi On I-75 Dies
A 17 year old is dead after he was hit by a semi along southbound I-75 in Woodhaven early Saturday morning.
Michigan State Police tell WWJ it appears the teen committed suicide, although an investigation is ongoing. Troopers say a friend of the teen who was hit called Woodhaven police around 4 o'clock this morning and said the young man was threatening suicide and may be headed to a park. Instead, police say the teen ran in front of the semi near Van Horn Road.
The victim died after he was taken to Oakwood-Southshore Medical Center.
The truck driver stopped at the scene and investigators were inspecting the truck. Preliminary information shows the driver wasn't at fault.
Michigan State Police say this is the third time in the past month that someone has taken their life by running onto I-75 in that area.
