Teen Gets 3-15 Years In Death Of Popular Tow Truck Driver
PORT HURON (AP) - A young man has been sentenced to 3-15 years in prison in death of a popular tow truck driver who was struck while pulling a car from a ditch in St. Clair County.
The Times Herald of Port Huron reports Trent Sheldon learned his punishment Friday after earlier pleading guilty to a charge of causing death while under the influence of marijuana. Twenty-eight-year-old Jason Schultz died in the Jan. 15 crash.
Sheldon apologized, saying he hopes to offer "some sort of peace."
Police say Sheldon drove on the road's shoulder and struck Schultz in Clyde Township. The 18-year-old admitted his role in the crash as well as consuming marijuana beforehand.
Sheldon's bond was revoked Monday after officials said Sheldon violated conditions of his release by testing positive for marijuana.
