Teen Faces Trial In Delivery Man Carjacking
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - A 17-year-old Southfield man has been bound over for trial in the armed robbery and carjacking of a local pizza delivery man.
The decision came following testimony from Paul Patterson, the alleged victim, who identified Deangelo Owens as the robber.
Patterson said he Owens and another man held him up stole his company car in the early morning of June 7.
"I got out of the vehicle. I went around to open the back door to get the order out and, as I did that, I heard him say, 'Put your hands on your head and get down on the ground.' And I looked over and there was a gun pointing at me," Patterson told the court.
"There was another person there as well and they went through my pockets and took everything out of my pockets," he said.
Owens was allegedly involved in a violent crime spree during the month of June, that included the shooting of a truck driver outside of Comerica Park and the shooting of an 81-year-old retired Detroit police officer.
There will be a series of preliminary examinations involving the other crimes.
