Teen Charged In Shootings Of 2 Detroit Students
A 17-year-old has been charged in the shootings of two Detroit students about a block from their high school at the end of the district's first day of fall classes.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy says in a statement that Steven Hare was charged Friday with two counts of assault with intent to murder and other charges stemming from Tuesday's shooting.
The prosecutor's office did not know whether Hare was represented by an attorney.
Two juveniles also are being held but have yet to be charged.
Worthy says a 16-year-old boy was confronted by several teens outside Mumford High School. He was shot in the groin area. A 14-year-old girl suffered a grazing wound to her face.
The shooting may have stemmed from an earlier argument at the west side school.
