Teen Assaults His Mom, Stabs Her Twice
SUMMIT TWP. (WWJ) - Police in Jackson County arrested a 15-year-old boy for assaulting and stabbing his own mother.
Sheriff Steve Rand said the boy was taken into custody around 7:20 p.m. Friday, after officers arrived at his Summit Township home to investigate a domestic assault.
Rand said when deputies and troopers from the Michigan State Police arrived at the home on Roosevelt Circle, the boy was physically assaulting his 49-year-old mother. Prior to the deputies arrival, the boy had stabbed his mom twice with a knife, according to police.
The woman received non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. She's expected to fully recover.
The boy, whose name was not released, is currently lodged at the Jackson County Youth Center on charges of aggravated domestic assault and assault with intent to commit great bodily harm.
