Teen Accused In Father's Death Being Tried As Adult
PONTIAC (WWJ) - The Pontiac teenager accused in the stabbing death of his father was back in court Tuesday.
Fifteen-year-old James Kincaid is being tried as an adult. Kincaid allegedly murdered his father as 40-year-old Leo Stewart tried to keep him from leaving the house.
Kincaid's attorney Steven Lynch asked a Pontiac District Court Judge to reschedule Tuesday's hearing.
Lynch says it's possible a request may be made for his client to undergo a forensic evaluation.
Kincaid and his attorneys are due back in court April 19th.
"...it's basically to determine if we're going to have a preliminary exam; a
probable cause hearing. Again, the prosecutor's just handed me all the reports right
before I walked into the courtroom. Unfortunately, it's not unusual, but that's when
we get 'em. I need time to review all that. I need time to go meet with my client, um, go
over to Children's Village and talk with him and see which way we're going to go."
