TDS Expands Into Southfield
Madison, Wis.-based TDS Telecommunications Corp. said Monday that it is expanding its service footprint into Southfield.
The move "means local businesses have a new choice when it comes to choosing their communications partner," says Cathy Sionkowski, market manager for TDS. "This is great news for businesses looking for a provider with a proven history, great customer service, and delivers the most innovative communications solutions, including IP-based services."
The service area addition is bordered by Eight Mile Road on the south, Inkster Road on the west, a line between 12 Mile and 13 Mile roads on the north and Greenfield Road on the east.
TDS is the nation's eighth largest phone company and has been providing phone and high-speed Internet business products and services to customers in Michigan for nearly a decade.
In metro Detroit, its service area stretches from Ann Arbor and the immediate area outside it northeastward to West Bloomfield Township and Southfield, and eastward to Romulus and Taylor. It also serves Canton Township, Wayne, Westland, Garden City, Livonia, Redford Township, Plymouth, Plymouth Township, Northville, Northville Township, Farmington, Farmington Hills and Novi.
The company, founded in 1969, provides business technology, local and long-distance phone service, high-speed Internet packages, and digital TV to more than one million customers in 30 states. It employs about 2,500.
