Tamara Greene Lawsuit: Bernard Kilpatrick Testifies
Bernard Kilpatrick, the father of former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, was questioned under oath Tuesday in a lawsuit stemming from the death of a woman rumored to have danced at a wild party at the Manoogian Mansion.
Bernard Kilpatrick told reporters Tuesday outside attorney Norman Yatooma's Birmingham office that he is "angry'' to have been called to give a deposition in the suit.
He said the investigation into a stripper's death "is a joke," and that there was no party.
WWJ's Pat Sweeting reports that Kilpatrick appeared to be in good spirits as he left Yatooma's office, telling reporters the deposition went fine, and as expected.
Kilpatrick was asked by reporters if he invoked his 5th Amendment right not to incriminate himself during questioning.
"Not too much, no..." he began to answer, before being stopped by his attorney who said content of the deposition was not to be discussed.
Bernard Kilpatrick failed to appear earlier this month for a scheduled deposition. He has also been under investigation in a federal corruption probe of city government.
He is one of dozens of potential witnesses named by Yatooma, who is representing the children of Tamara Greene. Greene was shot to death outside her home in 2003. She is rumored to have performed several months earlier at a wild party at the mayor's official residence.
Yatooma said Kwame Kilpatrick and other city officials conspired to derail a police probe of Greene's death.
