Table-Setters Do Their Job
When the bottom five in the lineup aren't hitting, it's that much more important the top four become productive.
And for the Tigers recently, having leadoff man Austin Jackson getting on base along with pesky second hitter Quintin Berry is giving plenty of chances for Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder.
Jackson reached base twice Monday and Berry got on three times, and each scored twice in Detroit's 8-2 victory over Texas.
It was Berry's bunt in the first that triggered the five-run frame, jumpstarting the Tigers to their second win in a row.
Jackson had doubled to open the game, and Berry was bunting to get him over to third. It turned into a bunt single when the Rangers didn't have anybody covering first. That put runners at first and third.
