Sweet 16 Usually Just A Means To An End For The Spartans
To most college basketball programs, the Sweet 16 is an end. They have reached their goal. It is considered an accomplishment.
For MSU, it is more a means to an end. It's been just another step to the Final Four.
The most impressive portion of the Spartans' resume under Tom Izzo isn't their Sweet 16 appearances — 10 in 16 years. Rather, it's that MSU has used this level as a springboard to a higher calling — the Final Four.
