Bomb Squad Gives 'All Clear' After Suspicious Packages Found At DEA Office In Downtown Detroit [VIDEO]
DETROIT (WWJ) - The Detroit police bomb squad has given the all clear in downtown Detroit after two suspicious packages were found outside of the Drug Enforcement Administration office.
The incident unfolded Wednesday morning outside of the building on Howard and First streets, just south of Michigan and Cass avenues.
The packages were discovered in a pedestrian area. Other circumstances weren't immediately clear.
The bomb squad used a robot to inspect the packages before they were investigated by an explosives technician.
David Grant, with the DEA, said investigators are now reviewing surveillance cameras in the area to see who may have left these packages behind.
"We're glad everybody's safe," said Grant. "We're glad that there was nothing that was really urgent for them to deal with."
Officials haven't yet indicated what might have been inside the packages.
An investigation is ongoing.
