Suspects Drive Van Into CVS In Failed Robbery
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are looking for the suspects who crashed a van into the front of a CVS Pharmacy in Detroit in a attempt to steal the ATM.
WWJ Newsradio 950's Mike Campbell reports there is now a big hole in the front of the building on Woodward Avenue between Collingwood St. and Calvert, across from the Cathedral of the Most Blessed Sacrament.
"It happened early in the morning. Somebody drove a van backward through the glass portion of the store, apparently to knock over the ATM, which is usually anchored," said Campbell, at the scene.
Police said the van ended up on top of the machine and, therefore, the thieves could not grab it and take off in another vehicle, which is typically the plan.
In this case, the ATM was left on its side inside the store.
Late Friday morning, the would-be thieves were still at large.
