Suspects Arrested After Armed Robbery, Police Chase
SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - Southfield police were involved in another chase Thursday morning and again, the bad guys are caught.
Police say the chase involved a man and a women who were wanted for an armed robbery that occurred earlier at a CVS Pharmacy on Greenfield Road.
Police, who had a partial license plate number, spotted the suspects on Greenfield near 8 Mile Road and attempted to stop them, but the suspects just sped away, leading police on a chase into Detroit.
Police say the pursuit ended near the Southfield Freeway and Pembroke, when officers used their cruisers to disable the suspects' vehicle. Police say both suspects took off on foot, but were caught moments later and taken into custody.
Police say the stolen merchandise was recovered. Identities of those involved were not immediately released. Charges are pending.
Southfield police were involved in a high-speed chase last Friday after 39-year-old Erik Anton Tyus allegedly assaulted an officer who was trying to question him about stealing items from cars. The chase started near 6 Mile and Telegraph roads and at one point involved more than 15 police cruisers.
The chase ended about 20 minutes later near Livernois Avenue and Norfolk Street in Detroit when police used their cruisers to disable Tyus' vehicle. Tyus was subsequently arraigned on several charges, including fleeing a police officer and assault.
