Suspects Accused Of Intimidating Seniors; Using Apts. For Drug Operations
UPDATED: Officials: Senior Housing Used As Front For Drug Dealers
DETROIT (AP) - Authorities say they're executing dozens of arrest warrants for drug suspects operating out of senior citizen housing buildings in Detroit.
The Wayne County sheriff's department says the agency is working with federal authorities, Wayne State University police, the Wayne County prosecutor's office and others on Monday morning sweep that includes buildings in Detroit's downtown.
The office of Sheriff Benny Napoleon says drug suspects intimidated residents and took over senior citizen apartments to sell narcotics. The department say additional information about the "Save our Seniors" investigation is expected to be released later.
