Suspected Warren Stabber Caught
Investigators, using phone records, have been able to track down the teenager who allegedly stabbed a man to death in his Warren condominium.
Detective Michael Torey told WWJ residents of the normally quiet complex at 14 Mile and Hoover were quite shaken.
"We very seldom have any calls in that area, especially to something of this magnitude. A lot of the residents in the area were concerned that the individual was followed home and it was a stranger. But, unfortunately it wasn't," he said.
"It was somebody that he knew. They were acquaintances at the this point in time. Robbery appears to be the motive, as well as a relationship that went bad between the two individuals," Torey said.
Police say after stabbing the victim, the alleged attacker stole the man's car and set it on fire in an attempt to destroy evidence. Investigators were able to piece together their relationship by examining phone records.
The suspect, a 19-year-old Detroit man, is charged in a four-count felony warrant.
