Suspect Wanted In Sex Assault Of 11-Year-Old Girl
MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - Detectives in Macomb County are searching Friday for a 28-year-old man in connection with the rape of an 11-year-old girl, who became pregnant and gave birth this summer at age 12.
Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said the suspect, Trevaun Cortez Brooks, was dating the girl's mother. He worked briefly at the Mount Clemens charter school where the girl attended class, and was reportedly living with the woman and her daughter when the assault took place.
Speaking live on WWJ, Wickersham said when they first got the case they didn't realize the responsible party was an adult.
"At that time, the suspect, we believed, was a 15-year-old male," said Wickersham. "Later it was learned through a Care House interview with our young victim that it was this 28-year-old Brooks. So, at that point our detectives got involved in the investigation."

Wickersham said the state is trying to take care of both children -- the young mother and her baby.
"Children's Protective Services has been involved in the case, from the beginning, once this young child delivered the baby. And Protective Services is looking out for what I say it the best interest of both children," Wickersham said.
Brooks is believed to be driving a 1997 red Chrysler Town and Country minivan, license plate number: BTU-1866.
Police think he is hiding with relatives. It was not clear if the girl's mother would face any charges.
Anyone with information as to Trevaun's whereabouts is asked to call the Macomb County Sheriff's Office at (586) 469-5151.
If convicted on charges of first degree criminal sexual conduct, Brooks could face up to life in prison.
