Suspect Wanted In Disturbing Attack On 15-Year-Old Girl Along Trail
NEW HAVEN, Mich. (WWJ) - Macomb County authorities are looking for suspects in connection with a disturbing assault on a 15-year-old girl.
The teen told Sheriff's deputies she was walking on a paved walking trail toward New Haven Elementary School, at around 3 p.m. Friday, when she was passed by three young men — one of which yelled at her and then approached.
That's when, the girl said, he grabbed her by her shirt, she struggled, and he struck her in the face — causing her to fall. She told investigators that the young man knelt on top of her and pulled out a "black-handled, double-edged mechanical knife" which he used to cut off her ponytail.
According to the victim, she was then dragged into a water puddle before she was released, and all three men ran from the scene.
The man who assaulted the teen is described as a white male, 16-18 years old, and around 5 feet, 6 inches tall, with a "dark stubble" beard and mustache. He was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt with white lettering. his two companions — who did not take part in the attack — were described as slightly older, possibly 20, without facial hair, wearing black hooded sweatshirts.
Sheriff's officials said the girl's only injury was a small cut to her upper lip that did not require medical attention.
No arrests had been made as of Monday morning.
