Suspect In Murder Kills Himself

DETROIT (WWJ) - The suspect in a Detroit teacher's murder, her boyfriend, has now apparently killed himself.  Twenty-eight-year-old Daphane Ramey was gunned down in her Southfield home, the woman had apparently been trying to break up with 31-year-old Mitchell Kitchens .

Kitchens was found dead in his car Friday, after apparently killing himself.

Ramey's seven-year-old son and 12-year-old niece were home at the time of her killing.

A spokesman for Haven, the center for domestic and sexual violence, Tracy Thomas , doesn't know the history of this relationship, but says she has advice for anyone who is in an abusive relationship.

"If you're at the point where you know that you need to get out where you're in fear, you need to put a safe plan together so that you and those around you are safe when you're trying to leave the relationship," says Thomas.
Thomas says there is help available.
