Suspect In Flint Serial Stabbings Faces New Charge
The suspect in the Flint serial stabbing cases is facing a charge of malicious destruction of property. Elias Abuelazam was accused Thursday of smashing a car window in a bar parking lot in Genesee Township.
Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton says that the July 12 incident may have been in retaliation for something that happened inside the bar.
The charge is a felony with a maximum penalty of five years in prison.
The 33-year-old Abuelazam already faces one murder charge and five attempted murder charges. Five men were killed and nine injured in a series of stabbings in the Flint area. Abuelazam also is suspected in four attacks in Virginia and Ohio.
He was arrested in Atlanta on Aug. 11 while trying to catch a flight to Israel, his native country.
