Suspect In 4 Metro Detroit Bank Stickups Charged
FERNDALE (WWJ/AP) - Ferndale police say they've arrested a man suspected of robbing four banks on various Tuesdays across Detroit's northern suburbs.
The man is charged with robbing a Charter One Bank branch Dec. 6 in Ferndale, police said.
His arraignment is expected Wednesday in Ferndale District Court, Lt. William Wilson told The Daily Tribune of Royal Oak. Police have not released the man's name.
Surveillance video shows a man in a dark knit cap wearing sunglasses and a bandage on the bridge of his nose approach a teller at Charter One in Ferndale with a note announcing a robbery. He was described as white, about 5-foot-9, thin and clean shaven.
He may have fled the Charter One in a gray Jeep Cherokee, police said.
A man with a similar description is suspected of robbing a Comerica Bank in Clinton Township on Nov. 15, a Comerica branch in Birmingham on Nov. 22, and a Flagstar Bank in Birmingham on Dec. 20.
The FBI has also been involved in the case.
