Suspect Charged In New Year's Day Sexual Assault
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police have arrested an ex-convict they say offered to help a couple in a stalled vehicle before sexually assaulting the woman.
Twenty-two-year-old Howard McKnight was arraigned in Detroit District Court on Sunday on kidnapping, armed robbery, first-degree criminal sexual conduct, repeat offender and other charges.
Police say a 55-year-old woman and her 63-year-old husband were in their vehicle New Year's Day on the city's east side when McKnight approached them, showed a weapon, demanded money and attacked the woman. Her husband was not injured.
McKnight is jailed on a $1 million bond and returns to court January 22. It's not known if he has a lawyer.
