Suspect At Large After Detroit Taxi Driver Fatally Shot Behind The Wheel
DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are investigating the apparent murder of a taxi driver over the weekend.
Detroit police say they received a 911 call, Sunday morning, about a person seen slumped behind the wheel of a minivan cab in the 9000-block of Artesian, near M-39 and Joy Rd. on the city's west side.
The vehicle was with A&A Taxi.
According to Officer Dan Donakowski, the cab driver — described as a male between the ages of 30 and 35 — had been shot in the head.
The shooter was not in custody as of Monday morning. Donakowski said a witness described the suspect as a tall, thin black male wearing a brown sweater with a hood.
Police said it was not clear if the victim was targeted, or whether it was a random shooting. An investigation is ongoing.
The victim's name was not immediately released.
