Suspect Arrested In Fatal Shooting At Royal Oak Home
ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Police have made an arrest in Monday morning's fatal shooting in Royal Oak.
The victim — identified as a 28-year-old Madison Heights man — was shot multiple times at a home on the corner of Linden and Fern streets near 12 Mile and Rochester roads, according to police. He died at Beaumont Hospital.
Following an hours-long search, a suspect was arrested at around 1 p.m. in the 6100 block of Henry Ruff in Garden City.
The tense police situation that went on for hours involved several squad cars, a SWAT team and eventually Animal Control — to remove a pet from the home. Royal Oak investigators were assisted by Troy Special Investigations Unit, FBI Violent Crimes Task Force, DEA, and Garden City Police Department with this case.
The suspect's name wasn't immediately released as he or she awaits formal charges. An arraignment time hasn't yet been set.
The victim will be named by police once his family is notified.
This appears to be the second murder in Royal Oak this year.
As an investigation continues, police are looking for tips from the public. Anyone with information should call Royal Oak Police Lt. David Clemens at 248-246-3456.
